The song was written by Sarah Hudson, Henry Walter, Jordan Houston, Katy Perry, Max Martin and Lukasz Gottwald.
The inspiration came from a 1996 movie named "The Craft". The artist recorded it on four different locations: the Secret Garden Studios, in Montecito, California; the Playback Recording Studios, in Santa Barbara, California; Luke's In The Boo, from Malibu, California and at the MXM Studios, in Stockholm, Sweden.
The song combines various music genres such as trap and hip hop as well as rap techno. The tempo has 132 beats per minute. The track had three producers: Cirkut, Dr. Luke and Max Martin. Part of the singer's fourth album, "Prism", the song was released for digital download and as a CD single on December 17th, 2013.

The music video accompanying the single was released on February 20th, 2014. It was directed by Matthew Cullen and they located it in ancient Egypt.
