"Life is Beautiful" is an original soundtrack album, made for the movie with the same name, having the original Italian title "La vita e bella".
The album, consisting of 17 tracks, has almost entirely been composed by Nicola Piovani, the only one on the entire album not composed by him being "Barcarolle" by Jacques Offenbach.
Being released on the Virgin Records America label, the album won the Academy Award for Best Original Dramatic Score and also got nominated for a Grammy, for "Best Instrumental Composition Written for a Motion Picture, Television or Other Visual Media", losing to the soundtrack for "A Bug’s Life".
The movie, released in 1997, is a comedy-drama starring Roberto Benigni, who won the Academy Award for Best Actor, the movie also winning the Academy Award for Best Original Dramatic Score and the Academy Award for Best Foreign Language Film.
Being shown at the 1998 Cannes Film Festival, it succeeded in winning the Grand Prix and among other nominations we remember the ones for Best Original Screenplay and Best Picture.
The movie is about a Jewish Italian book shop owner, who has to help protect his son from being interned in a Nazi concentration camp, the story is, therefore, happening in the 1940 period.
The soundtrack is exquisite throughout this tale of war and suffering, so the piano sheets for "Life is Beautiful" are worth it, we assure you that you won’t be able to not love them.
