"Speechless" is a track from the American singer Lady Gaga.
She wrote the song for her father, Joseph Germanotta, to persuade him into into an open-heart surgery. She also addressed it to her fans, as a motivation to appreciate their parents everyday.
It was produced by Ron Fair, along Gaga and it features many musical influences such as glam rock, blues rock, 1970's rock as well as country music.
Critics drew comparisons between "Speechless" and various works from Queen, David Bowie and Pink. The musical structure features guitar riffs and vocal harmonies similar with those of Freddie Mercury. It also features bass, bass guitar and drums.
Lady Gaga recorded the song in 2009 at the Record Plant Studios, in Los Angeles, California.
Various artists worked on the song, including Jack Joseph Puig, for the audio mixing, John Goux for the guitar, Abraham Laboriel Jr. for the drums, Frank Wolff for the audio engineering, Gene Grimaldi for for the audio mastering, Tal Herzberg, for bass guitar, audio engineering and co-production and Ron Fair for the producing, arrangement and conduction. Lady Gaga was responsible for the piano, vocals, production and song-writing.
The performance of "Speechless" was at the Los Angeles Museum Of Contemporary Art, in November 2009. She used dancers from the Bolshoi Ballet Theater.
Another performance was at the American Music Awards, in 2009, along with another single, "Bad Romance".
She also performed it at "The Ellen DeGeneres Show", at the Royal Variety Performance, with Queen Elisabeth II in the audience. Gaga offered many performances of the song during her concerts from The Monster Ball Tour and at the Grammy Awards, along with "Poker Face".
Although never released as a single, "Speechless" was present in many important charts, such as US Billboard Hot 100, the UK Singles Chart and on the Canadian Hot 100.
The pop rock song runs a duration of 4:31 minutes and it was part of many labels: Interscope, Kon Live, Cherrytree and Streamline. It was released on November 18th, 2009.
"Speechless" received mixed reviews from the music critics, who compared it with early works from Freddie Mercury and David Bowie. It gained popularity as the singer decided to promote with each opportunity and performance.
