King Harvest was a French – American rock band, active between the years 1970 and 2016.
The band was formed in New York and they were famous for their hit single Dancing in the Moonlight.
The band had a continuous members fluctuation, but they started from the co-founders Dave Robinson – in charge of lead vocals, bass, and keyboards, Ron Altbach – keyboards, Ed Tuleja – guitar, and Rod Novak – saxophone.
Dancing in the Moonlight is a song that was written and produced by Sherman Kelly and Jack Robinson.
Released in July 1972, as part of King Harvest album with the same name – Dancing in the Moonlight, the song has a length of 2:57 minutes and belongs to the pop-rock music genre.
The song was originally recorded in 1970 by Sherman’s band named Boffalongo and then released by King Harvest in 1972.

The story behind Dancing in the Moonlight is that was written while Sherman was recovering from a vicious attack by a gang. He got lucky as eight tourists were killed and he got away, even if the wounds were severe.
The song was written as an alternative reality that he imagined or better said, dreamed of. It became a huge success and hit the tops all over the world.
Dancing in the Moonlight was very well-received by the public and critics, as in 2007 was placed at number 17 on BBC Three’s list of The Most Annoying Pop Songs...We Hate to Love.
