Rise and Fall is a collaboration with Sting, an English musician, and it is based on a sample of his song named Shape of My Heart.
As David declared that:
I took the first 4 bars of the guitar melody from his 'Shape of My Heart' and wrote a new pop line over it about the trials and tribulations of an artist's career.
Off the back of that, I sent it to Sting to ask him to clear the sample. He came back to me and said he loved the song and the essence of what it talked about
The song was released as an R&B music genre and it was written by Craig David, Gordon Sumner, and Dominic Miller, with the wonderful production of Soulshock and Karlin.
The length of the free Rise and Fall piano sheets is of 4:47 minutes and was released as an R&B song, through Wildstar studios.
Rise and Fall had incredible success among critics and fans.
Once released, the song was also sampled by Sugababes girl-band in their single "Shape", returned David to the UK top five, peaking at number 2 on the UK Singles Chart, top ten on the Australian Singles Chart, and in Poland, Romania, and Hungary topping the singles chart.
The song has also an accompanying music video, released in 2003 by Max & Dania, the directors of some of Craig David’s videos.
