"Your Song" is a masterpiece from the famous English singer Elton John.
The pop ballad was released on October 26th, 1970 as part of the artist's self-titled second album, which was released in the same year. In writing the song, John received help from an old collaborator, Bernie Taupin.
The songs also ha piano influences from Leon Russell, string accompaniment from Paul Buckmaster, acoustic guitar as well as a shuffling rhythm section. The lyrics of the song focus mainly on love and innocent feelings.
According to Taupin, his part of the composition was completed on October 27th, 1969, just before breakfast, and that it did not last for more than ten minutes. Elton John named "Your Song" as one of his personal favorites, which is proved by the fact that he often plays it during his concerts.
This song also served as an inspiration for another of the singer's songs, "We All Fall in Love Sometimes" which was part of the album "Captain Fantastic and the Brown Dirt Cowboy", released later on, in 1975. The total amount of time that John needed to compose the song entirely was half an hour.
"Your Song" received acclaim from the music critics, throughout many years.

"Your Song" has been present in the musical conscience for decades and the public cannot seem to have enough of it yet.
