Released in the 4th of November 2008, "Bella's Lullaby" is part of the Twilight: Original Motion Picture Soundtrack. It was written and performed by American composer of film scores Carter Benedict Burwell.
He also composed several other socres for other successful movies and TV series like Blood Simple, Fargo, The Big Lebowski or No Country For Old Men.
Published by Atlantic and Chop Shop record labels, "Bella's Lullaby" is the last song of the 12 tracks long Soundtrack album.
It is a beautiful 2 minutes and 20 seconds mix of alternative rock and pop rock musical genres. The song’s rhythm can be also felt with the help of the "Bella's Lullaby" free piano sheets.
The character Edward Cullen from the Twilight saga is the composer of the piano score. He plays it for Bella’s character when she comes to his house for the first time, hence the name of the song…"Bella’s Lullaby".
The chorus of the song emphasized the love and what Bella means to Edward:
You are my life now
Can't you see
I'd cross oceans
I'd swim seas
To be with you
That's enough for me
When Bella has a bad dream or when she starts falling asleep, Edward hums the song he composed to comfort her.
In the Twilight New Moon, Edward gives Bella a CD as a gift for her birthday. The first song of it being Bella’s Lullaby.
The song was also featured in other two movies of the same saga: Breaking Dawn - Part 1 and Part 2.
The soundtrack itself had a huge success. It debuted at the top position on the U.S. Billboard 200. In the first week, it sold over 165 thousand copies. The soundtrack’s success is comparable to the 2002 movie 8 Mile’s one.
On April 16 2009 the Twilight: Original Motion Picture Soundtrack was certified double platinum by the RIAA. Australia (ARIA), France (SNEP), Germany (BVMI), New Zealand (RMNZ) and United Kingdom (BPI) also gave the album platinum certification as it managed to sell over 100 thousand copies in each country.
