If you need Van Morrison's "Brown Eyed Girl" free piano sheet, this is where you can download it.
The song is a classic rock single launched in June, 1967 by Bang Records, shortly after Morrison had signed with the label.
The text and music are written by "Van the Man" himself, as many fans love to call him, and produced by Bert Berns, the owner of Bang Records.
Since its release, the single was covered by hundreds of bands and artists like Jonny Rivers, Bruce Springsteen, U2, Green Day and more recently by Adele in 2008.
Today it is a controversial song as some fans say the text is in fact about using drugs and not about Morrison's love story to a brown eyed girls, as he initially said.
The name of the song was first "Brown-Skinned Girl" and the artist said that it was just a mistake, "just one of those things that happen" as he himself declared at the time. However, during that time, America was not ready to accept interracial relationships and that could have been yet another reason for the title to be changed to "Brown Eyed Girl".
The text was also edited during those days by some radio stations who were not approving the lyrics
"Making love in the green grass
Behind the stadium with you"
since the people of 1960's America were not as open-minded as they are today.
Being such a loved song, producers have included it on "The Best of Van Morrison" compilation, "Van Morrison at the Movies-Soundtrack Hits" compilation, and "Still on Top-The Greatest Hits" compilation and on the double live album "It's Too Late to Stop Now".
Also, many Hollywood movies have used the song as soundtrack, some of witch are "Sleeping with the Enemy" in 1991 starring Julia Roberts, "Born on the Fourth of July" in 1989, the 1983 film "The Big Chill" and so on.
Over the years, the presidents of the United States George W. Bush and Bill Clinton said they love the single and listen to it frequently. Morrison was pleased by this but declared that he would have proffered it would be newer songs they enjoyed. At some time he even said that "Brown Eyed Girl" is not one of his best songs and that he has about 300 other songs that he feels are better than this classic piece of rock music.
As time passed the song received many awards and has been listed as one of the "Top 100 Songs of the Century" by BMI, number 110 on "the Rolling Stone Magazine" list of "500 Greatest Songs of All Time", number 79 on the "All Time 885 Greatest Songs" and one of "The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame's 500 Songs that Shaped Rock".
