The English singer and songwriter Dido pleases us today through one of her beautiful songs - Thank You.
Dido has been active in the music world since 1995 and her debut album was released in 1999 – No Angel.
Dido sings electropop music, downtempo and trip pop and she has an incredibly unique voice.
She has sold over 21 million copies of her debut album and won several awards – Best British Female and Best British Album with it.
The song which we chose for our article today is called Thank You and it is part of this album – No Angel.
Dido released the free Thank You piano sheets in 2000, and it was also used as a soundtrack of the movie Sliding Doors.
The song appeared first in the movie, and 2 years later was released as part of Dido’s album, as a pop and trip-hop music genre song.
When released, the free Thank You piano sheet music entered the Billboard Hot 100 at number 80 and it peaked at number three after 2 months, and it is recognized as Dido’s signature song.
The song was written by Dido and Paul Herman and was produced by Dido and Rollo, with a length of 3:44 minutes.
The story behind this interesting title is sad and it talks about the downtimes of depression and about how she, unfortunately, lost her house.
Looking into the composition of Thank You, we learn that it is a pop song, with the verses written in the key of G minor, the chorus in B Major and it was written in a tempo of 80 beats per minute, in common time.
The music video released for Thank You features Dido in a very hard situation, not being able to pay her bills, the reason why the government comes to tear down her house.
The video was released in January 2001 and was directed by Dave Meyers.
Even if the story of the song is sad, the melodic line is wonderful and very appropriate for you to try it on your piano at brunch time.
