"Atlas" is a song by British alternative rock band Coldplay, written for "Safe and Sound by Taylor Swift from The Hunger Games OST).
Being the lead single for the soundtrack, it was released in September 2013 and even got a version with a lyric video.
The song comes after two years of absence on the music scene by Coldplay, the band deciding to finally get involved in media outside strictly the music industry.
The film director, Francis Lawrence, had only praises about Coldplay and the song that they managed to create.

Written by the band members and recorded in London in the April-July 2013 period, "Atlas" is a down-tempo ballad, accompanied by an atmospheric, smooth piano refrain and Martin’s low-pitched voice.
Involved in the song’s production were, besides the band’s members, Rik Simpson and Daniel Green.
The critics were fairly positive since the release of the song, Rolling Stone writing only good stuff about the song.
Other critics praised Coldplay for returning to their sound prior to their fifth album, a more classical Coldplay. Also being called "spirited" and "typically sweeping and earnest", the song ultimately won a Hollywood Song Award on 15 October, 2013.
Reaching number 12 on the UK charts and top ten positions in Netherlands, Switzerland and Italy, it reached 69 on the Billboard Hot 100, number 12 on the Rock Songs charts and 18 on Alternative Songs chart.
