She was born in September 1957 and is known as a Cuban-American actress, singer, songwriter, and businesswoman.
She started her career leading the group Miami Latin Boys, and she experienced worldwide success with her single Conga, in 1985.
Conga is the first hit single released by her in the Miami Sound Machine band. It is on their second English-language album, which was their ninth album overall, named Primitive Love.
The song is written by Enrique Garcia.
The song was released in July 1985, as a dance-pop song, with a length of 4:14 minutes.
Gloria said about the background of the song that Conga was written after the band had performed Dr. Beat in Utrecht in a club, in the Netherlands.
Conga won a lot of prizes, was certified Gold by the RIAA in the US, reached number 10 in the US Billboard Hot 100, and won the Grand Prize at the 15th annual Tokyo Music Festival in Japan.
The song was certified GOLD in the US for shipments of more than 500,000 copies.
