Pietro Mascagni - Intermezzo (Cavalleria Rusticana) sheet music

Intermezzo is a part of the famous Cavalleria Rusticana, a famous one-act opera by Pietro Mascagni.

It is considered one of the classic verismo operas, and the most successful one.

It opened the evening of 17 May 1890 at the Teatro Costanzi in Rome.

The opera was changed by Pietro Mascagni, setting the music to a new libretto.

The famous Intermezzo is played in the opera at the time when the square is empty, the villagers come out of the church to watch the action.

Over time, there have been over 100 recordings of Cavalleria Rusticana in many languages and some performances are so famous over the world.

Because of its success, there have been several movie versions of the free Cavalleria Rusticana piano sheets, like the ones from the movie released in 1916, directed by Ugo Falena, or the one from 1982, directed by Franco Zeffirelli.

The latter was the version that used famous opera singers for actors, like Placido Domingo.
