According to many fans, the song Lookin' Out My Back Door refers to drugs. According to this hypothesis, the "flying spoon" metaphor refers to the spoon which is used by drug addicts.
Also, another argument for this theory was the crazy animal images which were used in the song’s music video which many people said to have been the effects of the so-called drugs.
John Fogerty dismissed these claims and stated that his three year old son wrote the song. Also, the song’s inspiration was:
