"Moments" is a song which was performed by the British band One Direction, written by Ed Sheeran.
As the band ended up third on the talent show "X Factor UK" they signed up with Syco Music. After that, the members started the work for their debut album, "Up All Night".
As they concluded the "X Factor Live Tour", the band members resumed the work on the album.
Later on that year, Harry Styles, one of the boys from the band, met with Ed Sheeran, who offered him a CD with various songs which he was never going to use.
He asked him to chose a song which he enjoys and record it, as One Direction was lacking tracks for their debut album. Ed Sheeran wrote the song along Si Hulbert, and it was produced by Jake Gosling.
Both One Direction and Ed Sheeran stated that it's been an honor to collaborate on the track.
"Moments" is a pop ballad and it was written in D Major. It has a tempo of 150 beats per minute and the singers' vocal range spans up to the high note A 5.
The lyrics of the song are built based on a personal relationship of Sheeran with a woman.
The song was very well received by the music critics whom considered it one of the best tracks on the album. They also praised on the instrumental arrangement and described the song as "heartbreaking". The 4:21 minutes long pop ballad was recorded by the band in 2011 and it was included on their debut album "Up All Night".
It features intermediate piano lines and a strummed guitar.
One Direction performed "Moments" throughout their "Up All Night Tour", which took place between 2011 and 2012, also during the "Take Me Home Tour", in 2013 and on the "Where We Are Tour", from 2014.
They also performed it at the Hordern Pavilion, in Sydney and at the Beacon Theatre, in New York City. Another praised performance was at the Molson Canadian Amphitheatre, from Toronto.
Louis Tomlinson, one of the band members described it as his favorite song.
"Moments" is also part of the "Up All Night: The Live Tour" DVD.
The song was present in many charts throughout the world, and this happened mainly because of the big number of sales. This includes Australia, the United Kingdom, Canada and others.
The pop ballad has gained the public's appreciation, which is proved by the fans' reaction on the live performances of One Direction.
