The song Tattooed Heart is a slow ballad from the album "Yours Truly".
It is a song created in 2012 and recorded in 2013 by Ariana Grande (born on June 26, 1993 by the name Ariana Grande-Butera).
The story behind the song is very simple and cute. Ariana wrote it herself.
She said that keeping a diary was not something she would do but, being a teenager she needed to express her feelings and emotions somehow. To do that she began writing lyrics about her life.
One of those songs is the fans favorite "Tattooed Heart" and it is recorded on her debut album at number 14. Being one of her fans favorite song, Ariana chose to sing "Tattooed Heart" on multiple occasions like: the Believe Tour in 2013, at The Tonight Show, in the Women of Soul concert, at the American Music Awards on November the 24th, 2013 and even at the White House in March 2014 although it is not a single.
In 2011, she signed a recording contract with Republic Records after being cast in some TV series and a musical.
Even then, she was decided about wanting to record an R&B album.
When she expressed her idea to the managers they answered: "Who is going to buy a 14-year-old’s R&B album?!".
She worked on the album anyway since 2010 and, due to her four octave light lyric soprano vocal range, it was a huge success, making it on the the US Billboard 200 albums chart - with 138,000 copies sold in its first week.
That made Ariana Grande the first female artist, since Kesha, to have her first album debut at the top of the charts.
Many American artists and critics praised her talent and said that her voice resembles that of Mariah Carey.
They even call her the "new Mariah Carey" or the "mini Mariah Carey".
When asked how she feels about the comparison, Ariana said that is a "huge compliment" and a "blessing".
And, if people were not yet convinced by her skills as a singer, she performed a Motown-style performance of "Tattooed Heart" at the 2013 American Music Awards, where she also won the New Artist of The Year award.
