"Me and My Broken Heart" is a song by the British pop group called Rixton.
It was used as a single for their first studio album released in 2015, titled "Let the Road". The release date of the single was the 14th of March, 2014, made available as a CD single and a digital download. Recorded in 2013, this pop song was released by several labels, such as School Boy, Mad Love, Interscope Records, Giant Little Man and Geffen.
The writers were Benjamin Levin, Steve Mac, Rob Thomas, Ammar Malik and Wayne Hector. The producers were Steve Mac and Benny Blanco.
"Me and My Broken Heart" was the first and main single for their album and is inspired from "Lonely No More" by Rob Thomas. Made available as a radio airplay since the eleventh of March, 2014, it premiered in Los Angeles on KIIS FM. It was a moderate success internationally, managing to get top 40 positions in several territories.
In the United Kingdom, it debuted on the top ten positions and ultimately managed to reach the top. In the United States, "Me and My Broken Heart" started off at rank 87, then climbed as high as position 14. It was their first top 20 single in the United States. Since selling over half a million times, it soon became certified Gold by the RIAA. It also managed to get on the top 5 on the Billboard Adult Top 40 charts, as well as being a top ten hit on the Mainstream Top 40. On the Adult Contemporary, it also reached top 20 status.
The music video was released on Vevo on the 27th of March, 2014.
The director Cameron Duddy was in charge with the production, who also worked for OneRepublic and Bruno Mars. "Me and My Broken Heart" was first performed live on the live show "The Voice" in April 2014. In May, they performed it live on a TV show called "The Ellen DeGeneres Show".
On the tenth of August, they also played it live at the Teen Choice Awards edition from 2014.
On the year-end charts of 2014, "Me and My Broken Heart" managed to rank at position 68 on the Canadian Hot 100 charts, as well as ranking 70th on the US Billboard Hot 100. It was certified Gold in Canada, Platinum in Sweden, Silver in the UK, Platinum in the United States and Platinum in Denmark.
