"Reflection" is a song created by David Zippel alongside Matthew Wilder specially for a Disney movie, an animated motion picture from 1998, namely "Mulan".
Initially sung by Lea Salonga in her Fa Mulan role, "Reflection" has also been recorded as a single version by American pop singer Christina Aguilera.
Aguilera released "Reflection" as her debut single, which had a great success, both commercially and in terms of popularity. This single has been the start of her career, making it possible for her to work on her debut album, since she signed with RCA Records.
Aguilera’s version of the song was made available globally in the summer of 1998 through radio and, two years later, she transformed the song into a Spanish version titled "Mi Reflejo", which became part of her album with the same name.
"Reflection" by Christina Aguilera reached as high as number 15 on the Billboard Adult Contemporary charts, such achievement making her label producers, RCA Records, to fully fund her album release, which was hastened due to the hype concerning Aguilera.
The song has been played live by Aguilera on more than one occasion, starting with a performance on the American show CBS This Morning, following with a play on Donny & Marie.
In 2000, Aguilera also performed the song live on a show called "Intimate and Interactive", then on an ABC special, that same year.
Christina Aguilera’s version of "Reflection" marked the start of a new star in the pop music and it is a playful song, which can be learned on the piano as well.
