"Suit & Tie" is a single by American pop singer and songwriter Justin Timberlake featuring Jay-Z.
Released in January 2013, as part of Justin’s album number 3 titled "The 20/20 Experience", the song’s production team included Timberlake, Timbaland and J-Roc Harmon, who also wrote the song, aided by a team formed from Jay-Z, James Fauntleroy, Charles Still and Johnny Wilson.
Serving as the lead single for the album, "Suit & Tie" was released by label RCA Records soon after getting featured on YouTube, just 2 days after.
Being Timberlake’s first single after a six year break, it is a mid-tempo song pertaining to the R&B genre.
The music video for "Suit & Tie" was directed by David Fincher, with whom Justin previously worked on The Social Network.
Getting featured on VEVO, the song was also performed live by Justin and Jay-Z at the 2013 Grammy Awards and then one month later at the Saturday Night Live.
With a laidback groove, "Suit & Tie" draws inspiration from works such as "Ya Mama" by The Pharcyde and "Guinnevere" by Valerie Dore.
The sound has been well received by critics, The Guardian stated that the single was "sound-redefining, statement making, globe-conquering".
