"Another One Bites the Dust" is a song by the English rock group Queen, released as a 7-inch vinyl on the 22nd of August, year 1980.
Recorded that same year, this song was a single from their album number eight, titled "The Game". Bass player John Deacon was the writer of the song, which became an international hit single. In the United States, it was especially successful, reaching the top of the Billboard Hot 100 charts.
It was also rank 2 on the Hot Soul Singles charts and the second position on the Disco Top 100. In the United Kingdom, it was fairly successful as well, getting as high as the seventh place on the UK Singles Chart.
"Another One Bites the Dust" has sold over seven million times around the world, which makes it arguably Queen’s best-selling single ever. On a list called Billboard’s All-Time Top Songs, it was placed at rank 34. It was the receiver of the Favorite Rock Single award at the American Music Awards. Also, the single was nominated for a Grammy Award, on the Best Rock Performance by a Duo or Group with Vocal.

The song is influenced greatly by Chic’s song "Good Times", because of Deacon’s time spent around this disco band. The song has been recorded in Germany, at the Munich Musicland Studios. The producer for the song was Reinhold Mack. Deacon played many instruments on the recording, piano, bass guitar, percussion and even guitar. Roger Taylor provided drumming and Brian May was playing the guitar and the harmonizer.
The story of "Another One Bites the Dust" as a single was that Michael Jackson heard the Queen play the song in a Los Angeles concert, and then talked to Freddie Mercury about releasing it as a single. The single was featured on a music video, which was filmed in Dallas, Texas, at the Reunion Arena.
Internationally, the song performed extremely well.
In Australia, it peaked at the fifth place, in Austria at the sixth, in Belgium ninth, topped the Canadian charts, only rank 24 in France. In Germany and Ireland, it reached as high as the sixth place, number one in Israel, tenth in Italy, 14 and 11 in the Netherlands. It reached second place in New Zealand and third in South Africa, as well as topping the Spanish charts.
In the United States, the single was certified Platinum.
